The homologation process for vehicle manufactures starts with a positive Conformity of Production review by RDW. This includes providing all relevant technical documentation, so RDW can determine that the manufacturer's quality management system is in order. Once positively reviewed, the manufacturer can proceed with testing vehicles, vehicle components, or vehicle driving systems.
RDW Technical Service, or another designated Technical Service approved by RDW, can help conduct these tests at the RDW Test Center or at the manufacturer’s premises. All tests are conducted in accordance with EC/ECE standards and individual testing.
At RDW, we are committed to staying at the forefront of automotive testing and innovation. RDW Technical Service is not just about conducting tests; it’s about partnering with our customers to navigate the complexities of vehicle regulations and to ensure that their products meet the stringent standards required for type approval in the European market.
Innovation is moving fast, and so is the future of mobility. At RDW, we actively support manufacturers in testing prototype vehicles equipped with advanced automated systems on public roads. Whether developing cutting-edge driver assistance technology or fully automated driving systems, RDW is a trusted partner in navigating the road to safe and smart vehicle innovation. An example of our experimental test work is our partnership for the self-driving bus at Rotterdam The Hague Airport.
