RDW Guideline No 027 V1 | Rules designation of Technical Services for conducting of UNECE R155 and UNECE R156 test activities

This guideline enters into force on the 19th of May 2025.

Introduction

RDW has formulated an information package for the designation for UNECE R155 and UNECE R156 (henceforth: R155/R156) for Technical Services. This information package consists of the information document and the associated application form. With the support of these documents, Technical Services can request a designation from RDW for the R155 and R156 regulation.

The document specifies requirements of the Dutch Type Approval Authority (RDW) for Technical Services that are designated for conducting R155 and R156 assessments. R155/R156 specifies the uniform provisions for the approval of vehicles with regard to Vehicle Cybersecurity (hereinafter: CS/SU). The scope of this Regulation applies to the type-approval of vehicles of category M and N with regard to their CS/SU, vehicles of category O if equipped with at least one electronic control unit and vehicles of category L6 and L7 if equipped with automated driving functions from level 3 and up (ECE/TRANS/WP.29/1140).

Designation process

The Technical Service can request the information package through [email protected] (DTS is an abbreviation of Designation Technical Services). This information package consists of the information document (TS Rules) and the associated application form. With the support of these documents, Technical Services can request a designation from RDW for R155 and R156.

To start the designation process, the Technical Service needs to submit a formal application through [email protected] by filling out and sending in the application form for R1155 and R156. RDW will then contact the Technical Service.
